Fees matter, but they are only one part of the decision. Start with the course length, the real yearly budget, the programme type and the current Pakistan-side requirements before paying anything.

What should I budget each year?
The universities in our comparison currently run from about RMB 18,000 to RMB 50,000 per year, depending on the programme and on whether the quoted amount is tuition only or tuition plus hostel.
Why do the PKR and USD figures say “approx.”?
Universities normally quote in RMB. The USD and PKR amounts are added only to help families plan. Exchange rates move, so your final payment should always be checked in RMB first.
What should I verify before paying?
Check the exact teaching medium, the university’s current admission notice, what the fee includes, and the latest PM&DC rules for Pakistani students studying medicine abroad.

What Your Yearly MBBS in China Budget Should Include
The university fee table is the starting point, not the complete family budget. Before paying, confirm which of these items are already included in the written university quotation.
Use the RMB figure in the fee tables first. Some rows are tuition only, while others already combine tuition and hostel.
Confirm room type, annual hostel charge, refundable deposits and whether electricity, water or bedding are separate.
Food, local transport, mobile data and personal spending vary by city and lifestyle, so keep them outside the tuition estimate.
These charges appear separately in some university fee plans. Use the selected university’s latest written schedule rather than a generic estimate.
For long-term study, check the current X1 visa requirements and the post-arrival residence-permit process before travel.
International travel, baggage, winter clothing, local travel and emergency funds should be planned separately from university fees.
Best practice: ask for a written university quotation that clearly separates tuition, hostel and one-time charges. Do not calculate a guaranteed six-year total by multiplying one annual figure by six, because internship-year and other charges may differ.

MBBS in China: Key Information at a Glance
MBBS in China commonly refers to undergraduate Clinical Medicine programmes for international students. China’s Ministry of Education quality-control standard for English-taught undergraduate medical education sets a six-year schooling length and states that, when the host institution’s degree requirements are met, the English copy of the degree states MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). Pakistani students must separately verify the latest PM&DC rules for foreign medical education, the selected university’s current programme status and their future licensing pathway before making a non-refundable payment.
Typical Academic Requirements
Admission requirements vary by university and intake. Around 60% in the relevant science subjects / overall academic record is a common baseline among many options considered by Pakistani applicants, but some universities may require higher marks, additional tests, language evidence or different age/document conditions. Before applying, check the selected university’s current notice and the latest PM&DC foreign-medical admission guidance.

Is MBBS in China five years or six years?
For the English-taught undergraduate Clinical Medicine programme covered by China’s Ministry of Education quality standard, the schooling length is six years. The university’s current curriculum and internship arrangement should still be checked before admission.
How much should a Pakistani family budget for one year?
The universities in our current comparison run from about RMB 18,000 to RMB 50,000 per year. At the planning exchange rate used on this page, that is roughly USD 2,660–7,380 or PKR 7.4–20.5 lakh. Check the fee-basis column because some figures are tuition only while others include hostel.
Are the PKR and USD amounts fixed?
No. They are approximate planning conversions. Universities normally quote in RMB, and the PKR/USD value changes with exchange rates. Use the current written RMB quotation when you are ready to pay.
What other costs should I keep in mind?
Depending on the university, plan separately for hostel, deposits, food, insurance, medical examination, visa/residence-related charges, registration/application fees, local transport, flights and personal expenses. See the yearly budget section.
Should I simply choose the cheapest university?
Usually not. Compare the teaching medium, current programme status, exact degree title, hostel, city, clinical training, yearly payable amount and your Pakistan-side licensing pathway before deciding.
What is the difference between MOE-listed English-medium and other options?
China’s Ministry of Education publishes notices for universities permitted to recruit international students into English-taught undergraduate Clinical Medicine. Its 2023–2024 notice also says institutions outside that list may not use a disguised “bilingual” route for English-taught Clinical Medicine. For 2026, check whether a newer intake-specific notice applies and confirm the exact teaching medium and degree wording in writing.
Does a WDOMS listing mean a university is recognized or accredited?
No. The World Directory of Medical Schools itself states that listing a school does not, by itself, denote recognition, accreditation or endorsement. Use it as a directory check, not as the final licensing decision.
Do Pakistani students need to check PM&DC before admission abroad?
Yes. PM&DC has current policy notices for students seeking admission to foreign undergraduate medical/dental institutions. Before a non-refundable payment, read the latest PM&DC public announcements and confirm how your selected university fits the rules for your admission session.
Which Chinese visa is normally used for a full MBBS programme?
The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan describes the X1 visa as the visa for study in China for more than 180 days. Check its current official visa instructions because document and financial-proof requirements can change.
What documents are commonly needed for the university application?
Commonly requested items include SSC and HSSC / A-Level records, passport scan, recent photograph, medical examination documents and police clearance. The selected university may request additional forms, attestations or test results.
Can I use the yearly fee table as my final invoice?
No. It is a comparison tool. Ask for the latest written university quotation for your intake and make sure you know what is included before transferring money.
