Quick answer
The MDCAT exemption and CSCA address different decisions. PM&DC has removed passing MDCAT as a prerequisite for Pakistani foreign medical and dental admission. A Chinese university may still request CSCA results or other evidence for its own undergraduate programme.
Why this distinction matters now
“MDCAT is exempt, so I do not need any entrance test” is an understandable reading of a short headline, but it reaches further than the notice. Before deciding whether to book a test, identify the university, the exact programme, its teaching language and your intake.
A test requirement can be attached to a particular route rather than to every international applicant. The safest answer comes from the admissions office responsible for that programme, not a general social-media list.
| Question | Who supplies the answer? |
|---|---|
| Does passing MDCAT remain a Pakistani foreign-admission prerequisite? | PM&DC’s current notice |
| Does my Chinese programme request CSCA? | The university’s intake-specific instructions |
| Which subjects and test language are accepted? | The university and official assessment guidance |
| Will this degree support my future licensing route? | The relevant regulator |

What official university guidance says about CSCA
China University of Mining and Technology describes CSCA as an assessment of international undergraduate applicants’ academic readiness, with language and subject components. Its published requirements distinguish Chinese-taught and English-taught programmes.
That page is an official example of how one university explains the assessment. It is not evidence that this university offers MBBS, and its subject rules should not be transferred automatically to a medical programme elsewhere. We use it to explain the assessment, not to promote a medical admission route.
For MBBS or Clinical Medicine, request the actual medical programme’s subject list and accepted test language. If the answer is “CSCA required”, ask exactly which results are needed and when they must arrive.

Send an enquiry that gets a useful answer
A short, specific email is usually more helpful than asking, “Can I get admission?” Include your nationality, qualification, marks, intended teaching language and intake. You can write:
“I am a Pakistani applicant considering your Clinical Medicine programme for 2027. Please confirm whether CSCA is required for this route, the subjects and language accepted, the score submission deadline, and any interview or language requirements.”
Keep the reply with your application documents. If instructions differ between a brochure and an adviser’s message, ask the university to resolve the difference before proceeding.

Assessment dates, registration windows and submission deadlines can change. Check the official CSCA website and your university’s instructions before booking. This article intentionally does not repeat an examination calendar that has not been verified for your selected session.
Work backwards from the university’s score deadline. Allow time for registration, preparation, the examination and release of results. Ask what happens if a result arrives after the application deadline. Do not assume that a conditional offer permits late submission.

Make three separate checks before applying
- Academic fit: check qualifications, subjects, language and university assessments.
- Regulatory fit: check applicable PM&DC registration, institution and programme recognition, and licensing requirements.
- Practical fit: confirm costs, refund terms, documents and the intake timetable.
Start with our university directory, admission requirements and MDCAT exemption explainer. These pages organise the decision; your university and regulator should confirm the requirements that apply to you.

Prepare after you confirm the subject list
Once the university confirms its requirements, compare them with your previous studies. Identify topics that need revision and create a manageable weekly plan. Practising with the confirmed assessment format is more useful than buying material for an assumed subject combination.
Keep official registration instructions, identification requirements and result submission guidance together. If your name differs between your passport and test account, resolve it before registration. Do not send payment to an unofficial account simply because someone offers a faster booking.

Keep a record of programme-specific answers
Create a comparison sheet with one row per programme: intake, teaching language, required assessment, subjects, submission deadline and the source of the answer. Mark unanswered items as pending. This makes it easier to compare offers without mistaking one university’s requirement for a national rule.
If the university updates its instructions, save the newer version and ask which rule applies to your application. Clear records are especially useful when family members and advisers are helping with the same file.
Give your family a simple explanation
You can explain the difference this way: PM&DC’s notice changes the Pakistani MDCAT prerequisite for foreign admission; the Chinese university decides what academic evidence it needs; the regulator separately determines the licensing pathway. These decisions can coexist without contradicting one another.
For a concrete intake example, read the Dalian spring announcement. Before paying, work through the recognition checklist and budget guide.

Request a profile reviewAsk NICE a questionFrequently asked questions
Does the MDCAT exemption remove CSCA requirements?
No. The PM&DC notice concerns MDCAT as a Pakistani foreign-admission prerequisite. It does not waive a Chinese university’s separate assessment requirements.
Does every medical programme request the same CSCA subjects?
Do not assume a common subject list. Obtain the exact programme and intake requirements from the university.
Does English-medium study mean no assessment is needed?
Teaching language and assessment requirements are separate. Ask about subject tests, interviews and language evidence for the selected route.
Where can I confirm the examination schedule?
Check the official CSCA website and the university’s result submission deadline before registering.
